Cheyney Goulding knows that it is easy to put off making a Will but it is always a good idea to have one and keep it up to date in accordance with your stage of life and any changes in tax law. If you die without one, your assets will be distributed according to the law rather than your wishes. However making a Will can achieve significant savings in tax and the costs of winding up one’s estate. By keeping your Will up to date you can ensure that your estate is distributed as you wish and not as provided for by the law of succession.

Probate is the process of administration of the deceased’s estate, to establish what assets exist, to gather in the assets, assess who is entitled to what, settle any debts and distribute the proceeds of the estate.
We assist the personal representatives in their duties during the administration, in advising on any Inheritance Tax liability, liaising with Banks, Building Societies, Investment and Insurance companies holding the estate assets, drafting the relevant documents and liaising with HM Customs & Revenue. We can also arrange to gather in the assets, make payment of any liabilities and distribute funds to the beneficiaries.
If you find yourself in the difficult circumstances of dealing with a person’s estate whether large or small, we will be pleased to advise and assist as much or as little as necessary, in a sensitive and professional way.
Clients will require Trusts in both the commercial and private client areas of law. In the former, they will cover a wide range of aspects to deal with the organisation of the business entity; in the latter, for the administration of a client’s affairs and in testamentary disposition. The firm will advise as to the relevance for the client and deal with the drafting and administration of the Trust.
